Trivia Question❓
What is the “curse of knowledge”?
Answer at the bottom of the newsletter
Many business owners underestimate what they know. They assume their knowledge is basic, obvious, or not worth sharing. This creates a gap between what they know and what they communicate. That gap can limit visibility, reduce opportunities to connect with potential clients, and slow growth.
The truth is that what feels simple to you may be valuable to someone else. Your experience, perspective, and understanding have been built over time through education, mistakes, conversations, and real-world experience. Even if something feels routine, it may be completely new to someone encountering the problem for the first time.
Confidence in content does not come from knowing everything. It comes from sharing what you already know in a clear and helpful way. When you focus on solving small problems, answering common questions, or explaining concepts that people frequently misunderstand, your content becomes practical and relevant. You do not need to have every answer to provide value.
Comparison can make this gap worse. Seeing others publish polished articles, videos, or social media posts can create doubt and make you question whether your ideas are good enough. In reality, your audience is not comparing you to everyone else. They are looking for information from someone who understands their situation and can make complicated ideas easier to understand.
Consistency also helps close the gap. The more you share, the more comfortable you become with communicating your ideas. Over time, you learn which topics resonate, your voice becomes clearer, and your confidence grows. What once felt difficult can eventually become part of your normal routine.
Your knowledge is an asset. When you share it, you create value and give people a reason to trust your expertise. When you continually hold it back, you limit your ability to make an impact.
The goal is not to be perfect or say something completely original every time. It is to be useful. When you focus on helping others, confidence often follows.
